ULSTER'S first sex-change cop opened her heart to Sunday Life last night and said: "It's like having a huge weight lifted off me."

ULSTER'S first sex-change cop opened her heart to Sunday Life last night and said: "It's like having a huge weight lifted off me."

Until last month, Chief Inspector Angela Martin was a decorated policeman who spent 27 years in the frontline of the war against terrorism.

But being a woman trapped inside a man's body was driving Angela, 47, suicidal.

She said: "I even considered putting my .357 Magnum in my mouth.

"I don't want to cause any more hurt to my wife and kids, but I don't have a choice.

"I am what I am."
