THOUSANDS of people came from all corners of Northern Ireland to the 61st annual Saintfield Agricultural Show on Saturday.

With the sun doing its best to peak out through the clouds, competitors and spectators mingled as the different competition classes got under way from early morning before most wrapped up around mid-afternoon.

While concentration was written all over the faces of those involved in the serious business, others were clearly there for a more relaxed day out.

Families sat in the shade with their picnics, while a seemingly endless queue of children eagerly awaited their turn on the bouncy slide.

Meanwhile, the home industries marquee proved an Aladdin's Cave of the best home produced baking and crafts - a dangerous place to be for anybody with a sweet tooth.

With the completion of the showjumping events in the evening, the curtain fell on yet another successful Saintfield Show, consolidating its reputation as one of the premier agricultural events in the local calendar.
