Two men charged over damage to war memorial in Co Down

Two men have been charged after a war memorial was damaged in Co Down.

The pair were caught on CCTV causing damage to war memorial wreaths in Newry.

The men - aged 20 and 42 - were arrested after they were spotted on video throwing wreaths and crosses into the river at around 12.20am on Sunday.

Both men have been charged with criminal damage and disorderly behaviour, while the 42-year-old has also been charged with indecent behaviour.

They will appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on June 4.
