The centenary of the Ulster Covenant will be marked by a road trip back in time through the north west.

Participants will be collected at Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre in Londonderry’s Waterside before being taken over the border to explore events 100 years ago.

The trip will take place this Friday, September 28, on the eve of the anniversary of the signing of the Covenant.

Ulster Day will mark the Ulster Solemn League and Covenant and Women’s Declaration, signed in 1912 by 400,000 people.

The Derry City Council-organised trip will incorporate a visit to the Donegal County Museum in Letterkenny to visit the Ulster Covenant exhibition and Walking The Colours exhibition.

The Ulster Covenant 1912 exhibition features some of the original signing sheets on loan from the Public Records Office NI.

Participants on the day trip will be collected at Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre at 9.30am on Friday and taken by coach to the event, returning to the centre by 4.15pm.
