Amy Adams doesn’t think she could pull off being a mom who doesn’t wear a bra.

The 39-year-old actress wears an array of revealing outfits for her role as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle.

A lot of the extravagant gowns required her to ditch chest support and rely on minimal material to cover her modesty.

While she admires Sydney’s confidence, Amy admits she wouldn’t ever try the same look when away from the camera.

“I don’t think I could manage to pull that off in real life. As a mom, I don’t think I could bring myself to go braless and out on the double-sided tape to get away with those V-necked dresses!” she laughed to British magazine Look.

One particular ensemble, a white cut-out swimming suit, was extra risqué. Amy enjoyed wearing the costumes and getting into character.

“That swimsuit is part of Sydney’s arsenal of manipulation. The same applies to the sexy clothes,” she explained.

“The enable her to feel empowered and self-confident… I had a lot of fun wearing them and enjoying the kind of fearlessness and attitude that came with it. But you’ve got to watch your posture so that everything stays in place!”

Her role has earned her several awards, including best actress in a musical or comedy at the Golden Globes. However Amy admits she was initially worried about how her character would come across.

“When I first read the script I was fearful because I knew what it would take to execute this very determined and conflicted part and not turn the character into a caricature. I have fear with every role I take on, though,” she added.
