Adriana Lima has opened up about the "intense" regime she follows ahead of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
The model is one of the luxury lingerie firm's Angels and will be walking in the annual catwalk presentation later this month. It's watched by eight million people and costs around $10 million to stage, so the models know they must look their best.
For Adriana, that means watching what she eats and drinks and working out regularly.
"It is really intense, it's not really the amount of time you spend working out, it's the intensity: I jump rope, I do boxing, I lift weights, but I get bored doing that. If I am not moving I get bored very easily," she told British newspaper The Telegraph.
The 30-year-old has been exercising daily since August, completing two workouts every 24 hours for the last few weeks.
She's seen a nutritionist to ensure she has as much energy as possible and drinks a gallon of water a day. When the show is nine days away she'll only consume protein shakes "no solids", then two days before she'll drink just a normal amount of water.
She'll have no liquid at all from 12 hours before she'll take to the runway.
"No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that," she explained.
Sophia Neophitou is the chief stylist for this year's show. She admires Adriana's dedication and explained the lavish outfits - sometimes including giant wings - are part of the reason the model works so hard.
"Adriana works really hard at it. It's the same as if you were a long distance runner. They are athletes in this environment - it's harder to be a Victoria's Secret model because no one can just chuck an outfit on you and hide your lumps and bumps," Sophia explained to the publication.
Although getting in shape for the show can be tough, Adriana loves being a part of it. The star's daughter Valentina will be two later this month and she hopes to make her proud.
"Actually, the Victoria's Secret show is the highlight of my life. Becoming an Angel, once I achieved that, it was a dream-come-true for me. And I know that after all this is done, when I sit down with my daughter one day we are going to look back and it's going to be very special," she said.
