Alas and Piggott shoot Versace ads
Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott have shot Versace's Spring 12 campaign.
The famed duo staged a photoshoot in the Sonoran desert in Borrego Springs, California.
Models Gisele Bündchen and Ryan Barrett feature in the series of pictures, which will feature in fashion publications from March.
"[Gisele and Ryan are seen] basking in a hot blue light, dry grass and cacti behind them and a hint of a swimming pool before them," reports WWD.
In another picture Gisele is seen stretching out her body while in huge platforms and a studded crop top and pencil skirt ensemble. She is negotiating the steps into a swimming pool as she stares at the camera.
The pictures are a move away from the recent minimalist shots associated with the brand.
Instead, it seems the Italian fashion house has revisited the stunning prints and sexy colours which made it famous all those years ago. This could be due in part to the firm's recent collaboration with high street retailer H&M, which saw designer Donatella Versace looking through the label's archives for inspiration.
The campaign was styled by Joe McKenna and David Bradshaw.
Meanwhile, it's been reported that Balenciaga has opted for lesser-known models for its Spring/Summer 12 campaign. Juliane Grüner, Rosie Tapner, Laura Kampman and Kirstin Liljegren have all apparently been shot by Steven Meisel for the pictures, which will be included in fashion magazines and websites from February.
