Angelina Jolie shines on red carpet

Angelina Jolie looked beautiful yesterday for her first public appearance since announcing her double mastectomy.

The star hit the red carpet in London's Leicester Square in honour of her fiancé Brad Pitt's latest movie.

It was the actress' first public appearance since announcing she had undergone a double mastectomy to reduce her risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

Ruched at the front, Angelina's black dress boasted a sheer panel in the middle and finished at floor length.

Oozing understated glamour, the star opted for hair swept over to one side and a simple slick of pink lipstick.

She also kept accessories to a minimum, wearing just tiny stud earrings and two delicate bangles on one wrist.

Angelina decided to have all of the tissue removed from both of her breasts after learning she carried the BRCA1 gene, which increased her chances of developing breast cancer.

The 37-year-old looked radiant as she smiled, waved and posed with fans for photographs.

Addressing her health, she told reporters: "I feel great. I feel wonderful."

Brad joined his fiancée for pictures on the red carpet, also dressed entirely in black.

The Hollywood hunk wore a casual T-shirt and trouser combination, finished off with a smart blazer and sunglasses.

Brad wore his hair long as he protectively put an arm around Angelina.

"He's been extraordinary," Angelina gushed about Brad.

"He's such a wonderful man and a wonderful father and I'm very, very lucky.”
