Anna Wintour to receive LGBT Ally Award
Anna Wintour will be honoured for her commitment to gay rights.
New York Magazine reports that the American Vogue editor-in-chief will receive an Ally for Equality award from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
The Ally Award is given to people outside of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community who support the movement.
Anna has always been an outspoken proponent for the equal rights of homosexuals and HRC is proud to acknowledge her efforts.
"We recognise Anna Wintour for her grace, dignity, style, philanthropy, and generosity," HRC President Joe Solmonese wrote in a press release. "We are proud to honour her with the Ally for Equality Award for her commitment to the LGBT community through her work with marriage equality, HIV/AIDS activism, and the It Gets Better Campaign."
The editorial icon filmed a testimonial video for HRC's New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign in support of gay marriage in May 2011.
Anna will be presented with the award by Glee creator Ryan Murphy at a HRC banquet on February 4.
