Anne Hathaway: 'There's no shame in gaining weight while pregnant'
Anne Hathaway has encouraged new mothers not to worry about gaining weight or shedding their pregnancy pounds.
Anne Hathaway has shared an empowering message about post-baby weight loss.
The 33-year-old actress became a first-time mother when she and husband Adam Shulman welcomed son Jonathan in March (16). And as she revels in parenthood there's one thing Anne isn't worried about - shedding her pregnancy pounds.
The Les Miserables actress took to Instagram on Monday (08Aug16) to tell fans she been forced to channel her inner stylist by making her own denim cut offs, but that she feels "no shame" in the fact that last year's no longer fit.
"There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever)," Anne captioned the picture of her new shorts. "There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer's are just too dang short for this summer's thighs."
Anne continued her message by sharing two hashtags "#noshame and #lovewhatyouhavebeengiven", and concluded: "Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It's all love (don't let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace xx"
Back in May, Anne appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and admitted that she has been hitting the gym to tone up after giving birth. But while she may previously have been intimidated by her fellow gym bunnies, giving birth to baby Jonathan has made her realise she has nothing to worry about.
“I work out in West Hollywood, so you see, like, Thor’s trainer - you know, the people who have too many muscles to be in The Avengers - so I would normally walk in and feel so intimidated,” she laughed. “But (now) I walk in, I’m like, ‘Yeah I work out with 5 lb. weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body, I feel good right now.’ ”
