Autumn's looking fabulous with these key trends all set for the Belfast Fashionweek runway

By Staff Reporter

With the last burst of summer sunshine behind us, it's time to up date our wardrobes for the new autumn/winter season.

Celebrating its 10th year of glamour and glitz, West Coast Cooler Fashionweek, which runs from October 15-19, shines the spotlight on this season's key trends.

Red, in all its hues, makes a welcome return to the catwalk for autumn/winter, with tartan and plaid given a punky twist. Rich tones of plum and winter navy are also big news this season, with the latter replacing black as the fashionista's colour of choice.

Blue has been around for the last few seasons and makes a bold statement on the catwalk, from bright cobalt to royal blue.

Winter green looks set to make its mark again, from moss to military, while pink will also pop.

The nights may be getting darker, but the return of pastels will help lift the gloom. Look out for shades of dusty rose, lilac, lavender and ice blue.

At this time of year our attention turns to the festive season as well. There'll be plenty of party dresses on the Fashionweek catwalk, including sequinned and metallic frocks in bright jewel tones of gold, red, blue and purple.

And everyone's favourite look – monochrome – will retain its place in the trend-setter's autumn/winter capsule collection, whether it's graphic prints, stark stripes, contrast blocking or grid-like checks.
