Beauty queen: Charlize Theron how to get her look
As Charlize Theron's latest blockbuster movie, The Huntsman: Winter War, is receiving rave reviews, I decided to focus on the ever-glamorous South African star. The stunning actress and former model oozes style at red carpet events, and I particularly love her night look. She is also particularly inventive with her make-up. Here is how you can get this look at home.
The 40-year-old blonde beauty has often expressed the importance of a quick, simple and easy skincare regime. For that reason, Charlize has used La Prairie Cellular 3 Minute Peel (£153). This is a light gel which you brush on to a clean face in an even layer and leave on for precisely three minutes - no longer as it is very potent and strong. It is recommended that you use this once a week, and this is the only exfoliating product in my routine due to its potency. The peel contains professional strength AHAs, BHA, salicylic acid and fruit acids to exfoliate the skin, bringing fresh young cells to the surface.
Charlize also believes in a high level of SPF content in her foundation, with the dual benefits of maximum protection and coverage for her skin. For this I love the consistency and light-to-medium coverage of Benefit Big Easy SPF 35 (£28.50). This is a cream-to-powder product achieving a lightweight airbrushed finish. Expect a matte finish from this foundation. A definite must try.
Eye make-up for Charlize is minimal with a full-lash effect. For her waterline, she likes nude and bright; for this I would recommend Make up Studio Concealer Pencil (£8.50). A pencil is the perfect form to be applied to the waterline to lighten and brighten the inner eye. This option is a nice alternative to placing black or gel as well.
Lips are the main focus of the look, so be sure your pout is prepped and ready for a bright, bold colour. I used Revlon Lip Butter (4.90) in 'Lollipop' for this look, and it is an almost perfect match with Charlize's colour. The product naturally has a sheen to it so you won't need to add any clear lip gloss on top for a shine. Meanwhile, the fuchsia shade is going to tie everything together and be the focus of the look.
For a dramatic eye, Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara (£22) is looking good. With its ergonomic curved reservoir, this mascara precisely transfers the perfect amount of product on to lashes, delivering lots of volume, but no clumps, on the lash. The end results are spectacular; expect definition, shape and a curling technique with the blackest of blacks. Plus, it feels super light on the lashes, which stay flexible without becoming dried out.
Charlize is a minimal eye shadow wearer. Instead, she opts for a copper wash of colour over the crease, and a small edge of darkness in the outer corner to create definition.
