Beckham on leather love

David Beckham would love to ride around the world in his leather jacket, but is too busy taking the kids to school.

The former soccer player was on hand to open Belstaff's new store in London on Sunday.

Wearing a leather jacket and matching trousers, the father-of-four posed in front of an orange bike with slicked-back hair to fete the British company's Bond Street store.

David is a keen biker and would happily don his leathers and travel the world on two wheels - if he didn't have other obligations.

"Maybe I would if I had the time, but I have kids that I have to take to school!" he laughed when Grazia Daily asked him if he would follow in the footsteps of Ewan McGregor, who biked around the world in 2004.

The sports star also revealed what attracted him to working with Belstaff in the first place.

"I love being able to work with a brand that has so much history and is very British," he explained.

"I began wearing a lot of Belstaff a few years back when I started riding bikes. I actually found my first [Belstaff jacket] when I was shopping in a vintage store, funnily enough, about six or seven years ago and I still wear that when I'm riding."

David, 38, has become a style icon and has modelled for several high-fashion brands such as Armani.

While he's happy to grace the covers of magazines, he's not so keen to have his face on the big screen.

"To be honest, I'm not an actor. I've been offered different roles over the years but for now, I'm sticking at what I'm doing," he admitted.
