Game of Thrones beauty Ellaria Sand got a fresh new look in Paris this week thanks to the skills of award-winning local hairdresser Paul Meekin.

Paul was one of a select group of UK and Ireland hair stylists chosen to star in the biggest hairdressing show in the world staged by Revlon Professional in Paris on Monday night.

The glittering Style Masters Show 2016 broke all records when 4,400 stylists from 60 countries across the world came together in the French capital.

One of an elite number of "masters" chosen to close the Game of Thrones themed spectacular was Belfast's own stylist to the stars, Paul Meekin, director of Partners Hair + Beauty in Belfast.

Paul was given the task of creating his interpretation of a new look for Game of Thrones' Ellaria Sand for the grand finale of the five-hour gala event.

Speaking as he was about to board a plane home from Paris last night, a thrilled Paul Meekin said: "This is the biggest hair show in the world and I was really honoured to be asked by Revlon Professional to be part of the UK and Ireland team.

"The guy in charge of Revlon worldwide told us that he believed the best talent in hairdressing in the world was to be found in the UK and Ireland.

"We were sworn to secrecy for a month about the theme so I couldn't tell anyone that I was styling for such an iconic character as Ellaria Sand.

"Her hair has such volume and long, spirally soft curls and it is a look that has filtered down onto the streets with girls even getting extensions to try and recreate it.

"I just gave her a glossier more polished look suitable for the catwalk and our team got to close the show which was pretty spectacular.

"They had amazing graphics from Games of Thrones and flying dragons and they even piped in the smells of the forest onto the stage."

He added: "It was absolutely wonderful to work with so many talented hairdressers from the UK and Ireland."
