Carine Roitfeld favours high heels
Carine Roitfeld says it's "unthinkable" to wear flat shoes unless on holiday.
The former editor of French fashion magazine Vogue is renowned for her chic style. Part of that is always looking glamorous but never over-done, which is where high heels come in. That star thinks they give instant class to any outfit and would never consider going without them.
"It's absolutely unthinkable [to live without them], except during summer on holidays. I started wearing high heels when I first worked with Mario Testino. He is tall, I had to be at his height. And I have never stopped since then. I love the look it gives to a woman and especially the sound of the heels on the floor. It's quite sensual," she said.
"My advice ? Cut half of a centimetre off them for more comfort, it changes everything!"
Carine has also discussed the fashion pieces she couldn't live without. For her it's about the quality of clothes rather than the quantity, and she believes having several key pieces in your closet is the best idea.
"[My three basics are] my black Manolo Blahnik court shoes, a black jumpsuit with lace Carine Gilson, the most beautiful lingerie couture, and the Compression by César sculpture I'm always wearing as a necklace," she told Madame Figaro magazine.
