Carine Roitfeld: Jacobs knows Dior
Carine Roitfeld thinks Marc Jacobs "understands" the role at Christian Dior.
The former editor of French Vogue was seen at many shows this season including Givenchy, Valentino and Louis Vuitton.
After watching the incredible Louis Vuitton carousel presentation in Paris, Carine is certain that Marc should be the next designer to work at Dior. She is excited at the prospect of his possible couture creations.
"Marc is used to working for a big brand and he's been working at LVMH for 12 years now," she explained. "He understands the company, how it works and how to work with them. He's been given the shoulders to do the Dior job already. He's never done couture though, so I'd be really excited to see him do couture for Dior. He's a very smart person. If Marc gets the job, I won't miss a single show."
John Galliano was sacked from his role at Dior earlier this year, with the firm set to announce his replacement soon.
Carine also thinks that Scottish star Christopher Kane is a talent to watch. She loved his show at London Fashion Week and was full of praise for his original designs.
"He [Christopher Kane] is the most talented of that new generation of designers," she told vogue.co.uk. "I find his accent a little difficult to understand, but he is such a humble, nice person too. I love how he works with his sister, he loves being with his family and I can relate to that. He's very talented, his work is never a copy - it's always very personal."
Carine was impressed with the presentations she saw at the UK event.
Although she claims the shows don't run as smoothly as they do in other countries.
"London Fashion Week isn't the most organised," she admitted. "But I don't mind that. It's such an exciting place - it's small and cool. Next season I'll definitely be coming to London."
