Carson Kressley: DWTS costumes were fun

Carson Kressley "couldn't help [himself]" when it came to collaborating with the Dancing with the Stars wardrobe team.

The 41-year-old star was a contestant on the hit dance show this year and was voted off earlier this week.

Carson has a passion for fashion, having started his career as an independent stylist. The TV star has also appeared on shows including Queer Eye and How to Look Good Naked as a fashion mentor and host.

Carson - who also boasts his own fashion line - loved creating the flamboyant costumes for his turn on the glitzy dance series.

"That was probably one of the most fun things," he said of the show's costumes.

"Dancing is really out of my element, and it's never easy to do something that you're not good at in front of 18 million people, but one thing that I knew I'd be good at was collaborating with Anna and the wardrobe team on our costumes. It was so much fun. They told me to tell them my thoughts and I was literally bringing in my swatches of fabric and sequins! I couldn't help myself."

Carson loved giving fashion tips to his fellow contestants. The style expert didn't hold back when it came to telling them the truth about their wardrobe choices.

"I was giving pointers to the other dancers and helping them with some of their looks. I'm certainly going to keep giving them my advice whether they want it or not!" he quipped in an interview with Parade magazine.
