Beau Casper Smart has spoken about the exercise techniques he uses to maintain his svelte physique.

The 28-year-old choreographer, who dated superstar Jennifer Lopez from 2011 to 2014, is known for his svelte physique.

And having been a professional dancer for several years, Casper has always invested huge amounts of time in sculpting his body.

“All the dancers that I work with that have great bodies, they all go to the gym after or before rehearsal,” he told People magazine. “Instead of keeping [your heart rate] up for 45 minutes, you go up and down.”

Casper is currently a judge on reality TV competition Fake Off, where performers attempt to reimagine iconic moments in pop history in 90-second routines.

Even though he loves the world of entertainment, the star finds himself in the boxing ring often.

“Boxing is by far the hardest workout I’ve ever done in my life,” he noted. “I just got hooked on it. “I can’t get the size with boxing. It’s so much cardio that you just get thin, so I have to still do the weights.”

Casper is currently promoting his new film Street, which centres on the life of a young boxer.

And while physically preparing for the movie, he put himself on a rather strict diet.

“I try to drink a gallon of water a day,” he said. “Food-wise, no sugar, no carbs at all.

“I have a sweet tooth, so I’ll do dark chocolate. I try to keep it to a minimum. For the movie, I did apples and peanut butter, so that was my sugar – I got the protein, the fatty [food] I wanted, and the sugar I was craving, and I would eat it like four times a day!”
