Channing Tatum has "zero compassion" for his wife as he told her to stop waxing but she didn't listen.

The actor appears in new movie Magic Mike, which is loosely based on his experiences as a male stripper. He needed to be hair free for the role and was astounded by how painful it was when he visited the beautician.

"I didn't want to shave because when I actually did [work as a stripper] I shaved every day, so I just wanted to do it once. That was a big mistake, I'll never do it [again], I don't see why you guys do it," he laughed. "I did have a huge amount of compassion and then after I told my wife that she doesn't have to do it anymore and she still does it. So I have zero compassion. I'm like, 'Let it go. Let everything go. No one needs to go through that pain.'"

Channing is married to Jenna Dewan, who he met in 2006.

Magic Mike also stars Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer and Alex Pettyfer and all the men got waxed for it.

Asked if they all went to be defuzzed together, Channing laughed. "I actually wanted to do that and film it so we could all haze each other, by buddy filmed mine and was making fun of me the whole time," he said on UK TV show This Morning.
