Charlize talks leaving modelling
Charlize Theron had to prove herself when she quit modelling.
The 38-year-old started out as a dancer, but won a modelling contract when she was just 16. She's known for her angelic looks, but when Charlize decided to make the move to acting, she felt she had to prove herself.
"When I went from modelling to acting I had to show people that you can't pull the wool over my eyes," she told German channel Tele 5.
The star continues to do some modelling and is the face of Dior's J'adore fragrance. She's sure to win many men over with her goddess-like appearance in the adverts, but Charlize, who's dating Sean Penn, revealed what she finds attractive in the opposite sex.
"A man who can be a man!" she enthused. "A gentleman, who opens doors, but also lets me do my own thing."
Charlize and Sean, 53, have been friends for a long time and started dating earlier this year. They enjoyed a fashionable day out recently when they supported Dior designer Raf Simons at his show in Paris earlier this month.
Sean looked dapper in a suit, while Charlize wore a golden dress by the French fashion house.
The Oscar winning actress proves she has nothing to worry about in terms of ageing, as her short dress showed off her endless legs. But despite her great looks, the mom-of-one has insecurities.
"It's not easy; I'm approaching 40," she sighed to German magazine TV Movie. "I'm just like all women in the sense that I sometimes find it hard to look in the mirror."
