Cheryl Cole: 'I like to wing my red carpet looks'
Cheryl Cole doesn't over-prepare for her glamorous, red carpet appearances as she prefers to just go with how she feels on the day.
Cheryl Cole doesn't like to spend too much time preparing for red carpet events.
The singer, who is dating One Direction star Liam Payne, reveals she's not really one for a hard and fast plan when it comes to getting ready for the red carpet.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, the L'Oreal Paris spokesmodel shared all the details of her recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival (May16).
When asked what preparation goes into a big event like the film festival, the laidback star who loves designs from Alexander McQueen and Isabel Marant admitted: "I kind of wing it on the day. It's nice to spend time with my glam team beforehand, so we all know what page we're on, but the inspiration is usually based on what I'm wearing," she smiled. "I'll choose my dress first and then decide on hair and make-up. Oh and I always wear heels. I love a bit of height - when you're 5ft 3in, you have to."
For her seventh appearance at Cannes, Cheryl made another surprising choice, opting for a patterned dress, rather than her usual colour-block gown.
"My red carpet looks were quite different this time. Usually I stick to one colour - I've done black, I've done burgundy, I've done white. I wanted a change. The patterned Naeem Khan dress was really different and unexpected for me".
However, it isn't all high glamour for Cheryl, as the keen gym bunny also loves Beyonce's Ivy Park range and Topshop Unique's pieces.
Hair and make-up choices are influenced by the outfit, and as a face of L'Oreal Cheryl is of course spoilt for choice. Her top three L'Oreal Paris products are La Palette Nude Eye-Shadow Palette in rose, Flash Lash Sculpt mascara and Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil.
And as for her hair, while she loves experimenting with colour, she prefers a lighter take on the classic brunette. L’Oreal have even created a new hair colour for the star for their Preference Infinia campaign.
"(Brown is) my natural shade so it always suits me. I do miss my red hair, but I'd never be brave enough to do pink or blue," she shared.
Despite being a veteran of the showbiz's world's most star-studded events, surprisingly Cheryl says she doesn't have a signature red carpet pose, and claims to be really bad at taking selfies. Though she did pass on one good tip, "I think the main thing is good light and don't put your chin down."
