Chloë Sevigny: Modeling made me self conscious

Chloë Sevigny hated walking the catwalk because of her scoliosis condition.

The 39-year-old had a successful modelling career in the mid to late '90s and was labelled the new 'It Girl' at the time by New York's Sassy magazine. But Chloë has revealed she particularly didn't like walking in fashion shows.

"I really don't like modelling, well the catwalk I especially don't like because I have scoliosis so I'm really crooked," she explained to New York Magazine's The Cut. "When I have to be filmed I see myself walking and my waist and I go ee oo ee oo," she said moving her fingers up and down, "[It] makes me really insecure."

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side. It left Chloe feeling very self conscious, especially when she had to work with some of the top models in the world.

"There's this picture of me and I'm with Kate Moss and she's all super sexy holding a glass of champagne in underwear and really owning it and I'm standing next to her like this," she recalled as she curled herself up. "That encapsulates how I felt about having my picture taking and being in the fashion environment at that time."

Despite moving into the movie industry, Chloe is still renowned for her quirky fashion sense. She has never been afraid to take risks and her new obsession could raise a few eyebrows.

"I was raised Catholic, and I go to Mass. I’m really into Pope Francis right now," she laughed. "I just bought a T-shirt that says 'I Heart Pope Francis' beside a heart."
