Alexa Chung wears cat-eye liner after being inspired by Egyptian queen Cleopatra.
The British beauty is known for her minimal make-up and casual yet stylish ensembles. However, she does like to make an exception when she has a long day ahead of her.
Rather than go for a drastic look, Alexa chooses to add a slick of eyeliner to make a statement, similar to the iconic look of the ancient Egyptian queen.
"If I know I'm going out for the day and potentially into the night I add cat-eye liner. I stole this look from Cleopatra and Ronnie Spector from The Ronettes and I think it's pretty much the most flattering make-up of all time," she told Miss Vogue magazine.
The 29-year-old star has a particular technique she uses while applying the liquid. While she is an expert at the look now, she had to do a lot of practising before getting it right.
"Practice makes perfect and always think 'up and out'," she advised.
Alexa recently released her debut book, It. She reaches out to fans by giving them advice for all aspects of life, from men to hair.
She even combines these two topics to warn women about one particular issue.
“Boys say they don’t mind how you get your hair done. But then they leave you for someone with really great standard-girl hair and the next thing you know you’re alone with a masculine crop crying into your granola," she jokes to her readers.
While she is happy to pass on tips she has picked up, Alexa previously admitted she hasn't shared everything in the book. She instead included lots of photographs from her career as a model, DJ and journalist.
''It's is basically an image-heavy autobiography. The only things lacking are chapters and gritty details. There is plenty that I'm not ready to share though - I also wanted to make sure that I keep things for myself," she recently told vogue.co.uk.
