Ciara: VMAs dress rocked

Ciara felt lucky to be allowed to wear a Givenchy Couture gown from an older line designed by Riccardo Tisci.

The singer donned a flesh-toned revealing gown from the Fall 2010 Givenchy Couture line to the ceremony on Sunday night.

Although the dress was entirely sheer, Ciara's modesty was saved by strategically placed skeletal crystal and Chantilly lace overlay.

The elaborate designer creation also featured a cascade of ostrich feathers from the knee down.

Ciara's a long time fan of Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, and gushed about her ensemble while getting ready for the event.

“Lots of jewels and lots of skin!” Ciara exclaimed to style.com. “I picked this dress out years ago when it was first made. It’s my favourite dress of all time. I was very fortunate that my good friend Riccardo Tisci was able to let me wear it. He’s just such a genius.”

Helping the singer get red carpet ready was her stylist Marni Senofonte. She recalled what happened when Ciara first tried on the dress.

“We all cried the first time she tried it on. She started tearing up, I started tearing up. I’ve never gotten emotional about a dress before, not even my sister’s wedding dress,” Marni recalled.

The finishing touches to Ciara's standout look was sex kitten make-up courtesy of MAC. Neutral eyes on a satin matte complexion were crafted, along with peachy-nude lips. Ciara's hair for the evening was the work of stylist Cesar Ramirez, who explained more about the look.

“[The dress] speaks for itself,” Cesar added. “This is the world that we live in now, really simple, not overdone cool. It’s textured, but almost ‘undone-done hair.’”
