Claflin: I'm an awkward model

Sam Claflin felt "very welcome and at home" with the models on the set of his latest campaign shoot.

The British actor is known for his work in front of the camera in movies, but has also dipped his toes into modelling over the years.

He wowed in Burberry's Autumn/Winter 11 ads and once again looks at home in the stylish shoot for Cîroc Ultra-Premium Vodka's latest campaign. Both were shot by celebrated snapper Mario.

"I had the opportunity to work with Mario once before during a Burberry campaign a few years ago, so that was the closest to modelling I'd ever done, and I've done a few photo shoots with GQ.

"Mario Testino has a way with people - the sort of situation that he set up for the shoot was based on some old prints by Slim Aarons, capturing moments you wouldn't normally be able to capture," Sam explained to the British edition of GQ magazine.

Sam normally takes direction from moviemakers and has previously worked with Rupert Sanders on Snow White and the Huntsman and Francis Lawrence on The Hunger Games franchise.

He was just as happy to be led on the shoot with Mario.

"[He told me] 'Don't f**k it up,'" he laughed. "No I didn't really [get any tips] - I think he knows me well enough to know that I'm quite uncomfortable in front of a camera. I know that sounds stupid, but it's different when I'm being myself as opposed to a character in a film or in a story. He gave me space, and would talk to me as and when he could tell I wanted or needed to. We had some incredible models who were there with me and made me feel very welcome and at home."
