Claire Danes' embroidery fun
Claire Danes enjoys customizing clothes using embroidery.
The 35-year-old actress stars as bipolar intelligence officer Carrie Mathison in the US drama series, which will soon return for its fourth season. Playing the character is emotionally draining for the star, so she has a range of hobbies which help her switch off. Among those is embroidery, with Claire spending much of the recent Homeland shoot transforming onesies to give to her pregnant friends.
"It got to the point where the crew made a sewing station out of my director’s chair, one arm was a pincushion and I had this special light. It was ridiculous but, you know, delightfully so," she laughed to the British edition of Harper's Bazaar.
Claire is often lauded for her fashion choices and recently wowed the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in a bright red lace dress by Givenchy. She is also a mother to 20-month-old son Cyrus with her husband Hugh Dancy and quickly managed to get her pre-pregnancy figure back after giving birth in 2012.
The actress' life isn't all about staying slim and being healthy though - she likes to cut loose too. Occasionally the star will indulge in a drink, although it doesn't always go that well.
"I’m competitive, yeah. I might be a better dancer [than Hugh]. We dance together a lot. But when I get too drunk I get very bossy," she explained. "It’s one of my least attractive qualities. My friend had a birthday party on a boat and without irony I was instructing my friends to dance with the waves. Arghhh!"
