Cotillard confuses at Cannes
Marion Cotillard chose an odd-looking Christian Dior Couture gown for the premiere of her new film yesterday.
The French actress often turns heads on the red carpet, but it was for the wrong reasons yesterday in a strangely cut Christian Dior Couture Spring 14 number. While the white dress was short at the front and featured layers, the back hung lower and had a sheer panel with blue flowers to decorate. From afar onlookers could have mistaken the gown for a quilt, as it didn’t highlight her figure at all.
She paired the ensemble with a pair of black peep-toe ankle boots, which laced up her leg slightly. Although they looked good alone, they appeared an unusual choice for the gown.
One thing Marion was able to pull off was her elegant up-do. Her brunette tresses were pulled up and fastened into a large bun. Her chunky Chopard necklace also worked well as an added touch of glamour.
Also at the premiere was Amber Heard. The actress, and fiancé of Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp, went for a simple white top and gold maxi skirt from the Spring 14 collection of Vionnet Paris for the event. While some may argue it was too dressed down for the star-studded night, others could argue the minimal look made more of an impact than an outfit such as Marion’s.
To add a spot of colour to her outfit, Amber wore red nail varnish and matching bright lipstick, and her dangling earrings with emeralds also stood out. Her blonde hair was given a relaxed, wavy finish and worn down.
Czech model-and-TV presenter Petra Němcová went all out in a black ball gown by Zuhair Murad Couture. The strapless number, from the label’s Spring 14 range, had a beaded bodice and sweetheart neckline to complement her gold necklace. Her earrings matched and her tied-up hair style gave all attention to the stunning gown.
