Could Carrie-Anne become Ireland’s next supermodel?
A Co Down teenager who won the inaugural Face of DV8 is to take part in a television search to find the next Irish supermodel.
Carrie-Anne Burton (19) from Downpatrick, has been selected as a contestant in the RTE elimination-based programme The Model Agent.
The show, which is aired from April 20 on RTE2, will follow international model scout Ellis, director of New Faces at London agency Independent Models, as she embarks on a nationwide search for an Irish supermodel.
Each week the contestants will go through a judging process until one winner walks away with the prize, including a contract with Independent Models and a cover shoot for Image magazine. Carrie-Anne’s potential as a top model was first spotted by the judges in the first ever Face of DV8 model search last year.
Along with 18-year-old Aaron Kearney from Portadown, Carrie-Anne beat hundreds of hopefuls to walk away with the top prize. Since then, she has featured in a number of fashion spreads for the Belfast Telegraph over the past year.
Organisers of the Face of DV8 are confident that news of her success will boost entries to this year’s competition and with the closing date looming, they are expecting a deluge of entry forms in the next few days.
The male and female winner of the Face of DV8 ’09 competition will represent the DV8 retail brand in all advertising online and in-store for a year. They also get a year-long contract with Alison Campbell Models, £500 worth of DV8 clothes vouchers and hair styling by Paul Stafford Hairdressing. Contestants do not have to have modelling experience.
Gail Villiers from DV8 said: “We are delighted for Carrie-Anne that she has been selected to take part in RTE’s The Model Agent programme.”
Registration forms and rules of entry for the Face of DV8 are available at DV8 stores and online at www.dv8fashion.com The closing date for the receipt of postal entries is Monday, April 13, but contestants can also register at the auditions, being held at DV8’s flagship store on Belfast’s Castle Place at 9.30am on Thursday, April 16.
The Model Agent is on RTE 2 at 10.25pm every Monday for six weeks starting on April 20.
