David Beckham delighted a legion of female fans as he turned up to do a meet-and-greet at his underwear launch in Berlin yesterday.

The soccer star appeared at the German city's Alexa Shopping Centre to launch his H&M Bodywear range, but the 37-year-old hunk make sure to dress appropriately for the occasion.

Surely disappointing the legion of female fans who turned out to see him, David looked dapper in a tailored black wool coat, blue jeans, a blue long-sleeved T-shirt and brown boots.

David - who was flanked by giant promotional posters of himself wearing the underwear - posed with fans before taking part in a meet-and-greet session.

David recently revealed how flustered he became when his commercial for the brand aired in front of a room-full of people as he and his family were watching a major American football event in February.

"I'm very shy. When we were watching the Super Bowl yesterday in a room of about 20 people and it came on and I actually didn't know where to look. It was kind of embarrassing. The kids loved it but they were also embarrassed as well because there was other people in the room," he quipped.

David also rubbished rumours he used a "butt double" for the campaign. Appearing on French TV show Grande Journal, the star confirmed that the impressive physique in the ads is all his.

"No I can say the crotch is mine and the backside is mine as well," he said. "I heard this the other day. Someone said that I had a stand-in for my bum, but no, I can confirm that's my bum."
