Derek Hough: I live in sweatpants

Derek Hough

Derek Hough shared his signature style and his fashion must-haves.

The Dancing With the Stars personality attended the Sears' Jean Scene event in New York City last week.

Derek made a special performance to tie in with the brand's new season denim showcase and discussed his fashion must-haves.

"I’m wearing Diesel sweatpants jeans [today]. They’re my favourite things in life right now and super comfortable!" Derek told OK! USA. "They’re great to dance in [and] for travelling."

Derek described his style as laidback and comfortable. He added his favourite items in his closet are simple basics, but admitted these aren't always practical.

"Casual, relaxed, but saying that I do like to dress up and wear a nice suit. You know smarten up a bit," he explained.

"I’m such a white T-shirt guy. I like to keep it simple. I also love leather jackets, which living in LA sometimes backfires because its normally hot. I really like All Saints. That kind of worn down look. I [also] like Deter T-shirts from Urban Outfitters."

The 28-year-old will be returning for the 17th season of Dancing With the Stars this year.

The US show will now air for only one night each week with eliminations taking place on the same night as performances.

Derek revealed which of his skin-tight dance costumes has been his stand-out favourite from the show.

"One of them was a suit jacket I wore for the quickstep that was black and white," he laughed.
