Designer: Miley could cover up
Brian Lichtenberg has opened up about creating stage outfits for Miley Cyrus.
The 21-year-old singer is currently in the midst of her Bangerz Tour, where she’s been showing off an array of daring outfits. Designer Brian helped create some of Miley’s fashion mementos for fans and quipped that her penchant for near-nudity won’t prevent future collaborations.
“Every now and then you’ve gotta cover it up!” he laughed to Style.com.
The We Can’t Stop singer has many connections in the high-fashion world and starred in Marc Jacobs’ Spring 14 campaign. Brian explained how his work with the star came about.
“I met her through a mutual friend, and we got into a texting relationship,” he revealed. “She was a big fan of the brand, so I brought up the idea of [working together] and she was totally into it.
“[She’s] just how you’d think - really funny and humorous.”
Brian created a special T-shirt for Miley, which features a print of her signature tongue-wagging move and the word ‘Mileywood’. The tops are sold at the star’s concerts and have been doing extremely well with her fans.
“It was an homage to one of her songs and how she’s just creating her own world,” Brian said of the shirts.
The designer added that it’s a pure coincidence that ‘Mileywood’ is similar to Miley’s photographer friend Terry Richardson’s Terrywood book, which includes many of his 2012 pictures.
The designer also assured fans that he is more than open to working with Miley again.
