Dita Von Teese: Contentment brings beauty

Dita Von Teese thinks "happiness" is the key to beauty.

The Burlesque cover girl believes anyone can look good if they are comfortable and content with themselves. She adds there is no need to spend a lot of money on cosmetics as this simple advice is the best beauty secret she knows.

"I was once told that you need to be true to yourself and do what makes you happy," the striking dark haired star said, "being glamorous is not a question of money."

Dita has built a successful career around her individual style. She feels proud to have been honest with her love of her pale skin, coiffed hairstyle and striking make-up.

"I remember 20 years ago I earned two dollars per hour working in a pizza restaurant and even then I used red lipstick and dark eye-liner," she laughed to German publication Petra. "Of course I wear fancier shoes and can afford more beautiful clothes now, but glamour comes from within."

Dita was famously married to alternative rocker Marilyn Manson. Their partnership did not fit any pattern or mould seen previously with Hollywood couplings. This attitude is also something Dita believes is beneficial when discovering your own style.

"I often hear that I would look much younger without make-up. But I don't care because I want to look glamorous... That's my motto!" she said. "Never compare yourself to others!"
