Drew's 'crusty-free' make-up

Drew Barrymore always worries about looking “crusty” when she puts her make-up on too early.

The actress has created cosmetics company Flower Beauty and earlier this week unveiled its offerings for the new season.

For Spring 14 Drew has gone big on two-in-one products such as lip and cheek sticks. One of her favourites is the Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby, which she actually donned to this year’s Golden Globe Awards.

“You have to do your make-up at like 1pm in the afternoon and then you’re presenting your award at 8pm and you’re thinking, ‘I’m going to look so crusty and old by 8pm.’ and I wore this Lip Suede and it looked just as fresh and beautiful as it did at 1 – and I never took it off and reapplied or exfoliated, no tricks,” she told Beauty High.

The 39-year-old star continued to speak about the importance of highlighting and concealing, explaining those are the two products she always has with her. During her career make-up artists have taught her to highlight her cheekbones, cupid’s bow, her nose, brow bones and the top of her forehead.

Drew also opened up about what she uses for inspiration. She is determined to keep her line fresh and offer things which can’t be found elsewhere.

“I want to have really strong colours [in the Flower line] and not six pinks that look exactly alike,” she told Popsugar. “I get inspiration on the streets, the Pantone book, discontinued colours... If I see something I like, I snap photos."

Drew has 17-month-old daughter Olive with her husband Will Kopelman and is currently expecting another little girl. Now she’s a busy mother she explained beauty has to take a bit of a backseat, so she looks for products which will multitask and help her look polished quickly.
