Dries Van Noten: I can't work in mess
Dries Van Noten hates things "polluting his view" when he's working.
The Belgian fashion designer likes having a clean space in which to generate ideas and create his designs.
Dries detests having a chaotic workshop.
"I hate it when a room is a mess. No, nothing should pollute my view, not any parasitic image. I need a clean horizon to have a free mind and feed my imagination better," he explained in an interview with Elle France.
"Offering a nice area [to work for my team] allows me to be uncompromising. You have to be happy to come here, because I'm asking a lot. I'm a perfectionist and it's not easy to work with me."
Dries is famed for his eccentric fashion. However, the 53-year-old star insists he likes his designs to appeal to fashionistas with a range of tastes.
"I like options. Even though my clothes are entirely embroidered or with print patterns, they might keep a certain neutrality: a running sleeve you can roll up or not, clothes you can put a belt on or not, to mix easily with your own wardrobe," he said. "I want my clothes to be rooted in reality."
