Elizabeth Hurley dons pink to promote breast cancer awareness
Elizabeth Hurley dressed in pink to promote breast cancer awareness in New York yesterday.
The British model-and-actress is a spokesperson for beauty brand Estée Lauder. The company is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, with Elizabeth on hand to help.
The 47-year-old lit up the Empire State Building with pink lights to mark the occasion.
"I'm lighting the Empire State Building pink today at 1pm. Come along!" she posted on her Twitter page yesterday.
The Gossip Girl star looked stunning in a fitted pink dress, which she teamed with nude heels to show off her legs.
Elizabeth has worked with Estée Lauder for more than 15 years and has explained in the past why the campaign is so close to her heart.
"My maternal grandmother died of breast cancer just before I started working with Evelyn [Lauder] and Estee Lauder and so, as soon as she asked me to help, it seemed like the perfect fit because she was one of the ladies that we really had tried to get past all that because she was scared of her breast cancer. She wouldn't tell anyone that she had a lump," she explained at the time.
"So that's really what has inspired us to now really spread the word, so that breast cancer is not a dirty word anymore."
Elizabeth's boyfriend Shane Warne supported her in New York, posting a picture of the event on Twitter.
"On the 80th floor with @ElizabethHurley of the Empire State Building..... Xxx, (sic)" he added.
