Singer Ellie Goulding has had to ease up on her exercise regime after discovering she has a heart condition.

(Cover) - EN Star Style - British singer Ellie Goulding was playing with her life by not getting a heart issue checked out sooner.

The 28-year-old discovered she had a “heart thing” last year, but didn’t get it looked at until recently. Ellie can’t help but berate herself for neglecting her health.

“I found out I have this heart thing and I need to get it checked out,” she told Australia’s Perth Now. “I'm fine, it's actually something someone discovered last year but I never got it checked out. Which is terrible, I have been playing with my life.”

While Ellie didn’t reveal exactly what was wrong, she did confess that doctors had advised her to ease up on her exercise regime. The star regularly posts pictures of her working out or showing off her toned physique on social media, but she insists some good things have come out of her medical condition.

"It's nice to know you actually can't go to the gym, you're not allowed,” she added. “So I have been very relaxed, I have been chilling and not being as militant about what I eat.”

Ellie is a keen supporter of the World Heart Federation and helped with one of their campaigns in September (15).

She told Women's Health in May (15) that exercise is something she enjoys doing with boyfriend Dougie Poynter.

“Training with him and the other guys (from his band McBusted) is fun – it's not hard... And so we will often all go to the gym together and a couple of the other girls - the wives - will come down as well and it's great because my band don't b**ody train. It's actually nice being with guys who train so much,” she smiled.

Despite her health woes, Ellie is feeling good and shared a picture of herself on Monday (05Oct15) to celebrate her long locks.

“I swear since I went veggie bout (sic) two years ago my hair just grows and grows it used to sort of just stay the same length,” she wrote on Instagram.
