Emily Blunt shocked by Opium campaign

Emily Blunt has joked that Yves Saint Laurent made a "terrible mistake" casting her as the face of their iconic Opium fragrance.

The British actress was announced as the new ambassador for the scent in September. Emily is thrilled to represent the luxury brand, but has joked about her credentials.

"I don't know. I've no idea," she laughed when asked why she was chosen as the new face. "There was no one else? They made a mistake, a terrible mistake."

Emily loved filming the campaign, which features a leopard. However, the star had minimal interaction with the deadly creature, which she was secretly relieved about.

Emily suggested wearing a gorgeous gown in the advert rather than the classic Yves Saint Laurent tux, but she was soon shot down by on-set professionals.

"But I got word back that the leopard trainer says, 'If you have flowing fabric around the leopard the leopard will go crazy.' So I said yes to the tux," she explained.

The perfume campaign is the first for Emily. The 28-year-old beauty was holding out for the right offer from a beauty brand.

"I think that I've been wanting to make sure that when I did it it would be the right thing," she told British newspaper The Telegraph. "There's such an aura of scandal around this perfume that I was quite attached to the idea of doing it from the word go. I'd been asked to do a couple of things but none were as classy as this. And I got to work with a leopard.

"[The Opium campaign] is not necessarily going for the obvious - it's something a bit more mystical and weird."
