Emma Stone has described the undergarments she had to wear for her movie Gangster Squad as being "demanding".
The actress stars as woman of mystery Grace Faraday in the crime drama, which is set in 1940s Hollywood.
Emma revealed that it was a tough job to maintain the glamorous image sported by stars in that era.
"Those undergarments were pretty demanding," Emma told W magazine. "It’s time-consuming to put on a bustier and a little corset every day."
Emma explained how her role in Gangster Squad sees her channel a femme fatale character for the first time. Previously known for her humorous roles in films such as Zombieland, Emma confessed that the restrictive costume helped her fulfil this new role more effectively.
"But you’re immediately more poised than you would be in modern-day clothes," Emma continued. "And it makes it easy to get into character."
The 24-year-old explained how despite her starring roles in movies such as Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Amazing Spider-Man, she is still getting used to Hollywood culture herself. Emma discussed her experience presenting an award at last year's Oscars with Ben Stiller where many people commented hers was the most memorable appearance of the night. The pretty young actress confessed that it was only then that she started to warm into the awards season protocol.
"At first, when you go to premieres and award shows, you’re thinking, How the hell am I here? All these people I’ve never met are here, and it’s so cool! And then, as time goes on, it’s a little bit like, Ah…it’s more like work," she continued. "There are only a couple of events where I’ve truly felt, That was an awesome night—and the Oscars was one of them."
