Emma Stone's 'cool' Met hair

Emma Stone's stylist wanted to detract from her new bangs at the Met Gala.

The Amazing Spider-Man actress rocked a messy braid at the huge fashion event in New York on Monday night. Mara Roszak is the lady behind Emma's lock and revealed why she went for the plait and decided to leave the 25-year-old's new fringe out of the picture.

"I wanted her bangs to be off her face. The Spider-Man premiere in New York was the big premiere and it got a lot of coverage. Her bangs were fresh and down in her face. [At the Met Gala] I wanted to do something different and for it to really feel open and kind of sexy and cool," she explained to Fashionista.

"We haven’t done too many braids and we definitely haven’t done a braid like this. It was really about building up as much texture and volume into her hair as possible."

The redhead finished off her look with a pink number by Thakoon and strappy silver heels. Her slim figure has turned heads of late, with some critics claiming she is too skinny. Emma hit out at the comments, letting people know she can't help her small frame.

“It can be really challenging in today’s world for anyone - especially girls and women - to feel good about their bodies. No matter how things look from the outside, we can all be super critical of ourselves and of our image in the mirror," she told Seventeen magazine.

“I’ve seen articles or comments that have addressed my weight, or ‘caving to pressure to be thin’. Keeping weight on is a struggle for me - especially when I’m under stress, and especially as I’ve gotten older. That’s the way my genes have decided to go, and things will change as time goes on, as does everything. So when completely untrue statements are made about me or my health, of course a part of me wants to defend.”
