Emma Watson: I stepped back from style
Emma Watson took a "step back" from the fashion world when she realised it was eclipsing her acting talents.
The 23-year-old actress rose to international prominence at a very young age thanks to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series.
Emma has since become a renowned style icon, but says she doesn't want people to forget her acting talents in the process.
“I took a very conscious step back. I think people were getting confused,” she explained in an interview with Teen Vogue. “They seemed to think that I was a fashionista or that fashion was my main thing, and I didn’t want that once I figured out I really did want to act.”
Emma is famed for her stunning red carpet appearances, and is regularly praised for her edgy sartorial choices.
The beauty says her confidence isn't always sky high ahead of such events though.
"Every now and again, I feel a bit wobbly before hitting a red carpet. So it's always nice to bring friends, especially because I love to see their reactions," she admitted.
"It's not normal to get out of a car and have, like, 80 people screaming at you, and so when they say, 'This is crazy,' it makes me feel slightly more sane."
Emma also listed her favourite places to shop, including Topshop, Aritzia, Chanel and Christopher Kane in the interview.
Despite her penchant for designer clothes, Emma revealed earlier this week that her shoe collection leaves much to be desired.
While condemning her shallow on-screen character Nicki in The Bling Ring, the star admitted she only has a modest range of footwear herself.
"It’s almost like consumerism as a form of kleptomania. She could never wear all of those clothes and half of them were brand new and still had the price tag on," she said.
"But I suppose she just bought them to have them. We’ve all bought things on impulse but that’s an entirely different thing. I’ve got about eight pairs of shoes and that’s it."
