Take a step back in time to the fabulous Fifties when fashion was elegant, feminine and chic. It was the era of James Dean and Norma Jean, juke boxes and the jive, when fashion took on a more frivolous feel after the post-war austerity of the previous decade. Channel your inner Marilyn Monroe or Grace Kelly in big skirts, tight sweaters, floral dresses and spaghetti straps.

Team slim-fitting capri pants with ballet pumps and gingham Bardot tops or go all out in full skirts with cinched in waists worn with ankle socks for that summer lovin' look straight out of Grease. The Fifties was a time when the hourglass shape was celebrated so don't be afraid to let your curves show.

Both pencil skirts and poodle skirts were key silhouettes and suit ever body shape. To create the illusion of curves, invest in belts, nets and padding. For the finishing touches, add chiffon scarves, pretty gloves and a slick of red lipstick.
