Flare for fashion: No need to raid vintage stores for groovy threads
Dig the retro revival and head back to the Seventies, writes Maureen Coleman
Fashion is taking a hippy trip back in time this season, revisiting the free-spirited decade of the Seventies. From folksy, boho-style blouses and printed maxi skirts to floppy hats and flared jeans, this retro revival is a huge trend for spring/summer.
Take inspiration from the decade's style icons: think Joni Mitchell or Jerry Hall in crochet waistcoats, jumpsuits, suede skirts and platform shoes.
Current collections from designers such as Tom Ford, Prada and Gucci have been inspired by the Seventies. Miu Miu rocked knitted crop-tops while Giambattista Valli showcased bell bottoms.
Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Rita Ora, Olivia Palermo and Cara Delevingne have been stepping out recently in denim flares and blanket coats. And it's a trend that has filtered easily down to the high street with shops like Dorothy Perkins, Marks & Spencer and New Look channelling their inner bohemian babes.
