Freida Pinto had play date with designer
Freida Pinto had a "play date" with the costume designer on her latest movie.
The actress plays Princess Leyla in the period drama which is set in 1930s Arabia at the dawn of the oil boom. Freida wore a host of revealing outfits for the film, which has attracted some controversy.
However, she had a great time discussing her wardrobe with Black Gold costume designer Fabio Perrone.
"There's a certain royalty that comes with vintage costumes and I had an almost two day play-date with Fabio," Freida explained during an interview with British newspaper The Independent.
The 27-year-old beauty says director Jean-Jacques Annaud wanted her character's clothes to symbolise her fight for freedom. In the movie, the princess faces a conflict of emotions and feels trapped in her life.
"Jean-Jacques was mindful of dressing me up as the traditional princess while also communicating her desire to just break out and be modern," she added. "It's a blend of both."
Freida shot to fame in the movie Slumdog Millionaire, where she met her current boyfriend Dev Patel. The star admits she sometimes struggles with so much attention paid to her appearance and love life.
"I do go through a lot of down moments. I have plenty of those." She laughs. "OK fine, poor girl, whatever! But I do have those moments and I think it's perfectly fine for me to have them. I have found a way of dealing with those moments and using them in film sometimes. Every experience is one for the diary."
