Gabrielle Union: Why my varied diet works
Gabrielle Union always keeps track of the calories she burns during workouts.
The 42-year-old actress could be mistaken for much younger than her years with her fresh complexion and toned physique.
Amid her busy schedule, Gabrielle doesn't rule out all unhealthy food and strives to achieve a balance.
“When I’m not working, I try to be reasonable. One day, maybe it’s a bacon cheeseburger; another day, it’s quinoa and kale," she explained to Us Weekly.
Her workout routines are rather vigorous, burning around 800 calories from a 90-minute session of kickboxing and sprinting with trainer Ahmad Baari. Gabrielle keeps track of her progress and relies on her heart-rate monitor for information on the go.
“I like to know how many calories I burn,” she smiled.
And to go alongside her varied diet, also full of green smoothies and fish, the brunette beauty makes sure to keep hydrated.
“I drink a gallon of water a day," she revealed.
This is a routine she has been following for some time. Speaking to Fitness magazine last month, she recalled when she upped her water intake and the benefits.
"I started drinking a gallon of water a day in my mid-thirties and some people have called me a vampire or that I'm using embalming fluid, or other crazy things," she laughed. "But honestly, my hair, skin, and nails all changed once I started drinking a gallon of water a day. It's something that we all have available to us, but we don't take advantage of it. And it doesn't need to be the fancy, super-expensive water. Most of the time, especially in New York or Los Angeles, I drink tap water. I'll add a little lemon to feel fancy, but it's just important to get the water in."
