Gaby Hoffmann: Placenta does you good
Gaby Hoffmann made smoothies out of her placenta for three weeks after giving birth to her daughter.
The Girls actress welcomed her first child with long-term partner Chris Dapkins, daughter Rosemary, on November 19.
And after showing off a slim physique at the season four premiere of the HBO series on Monday night, the 32-year-old opened up to People magazine about the secrets behind her slimming down.
“Placenta, placenta, placenta. Just eat that s**t up, and it does a girl good!” she confessed. “You don’t taste [it].”
Gaby added that getting the nutrients from the birth organ was pretty straightforward and it boosted her milk supply and energy - something every new mom needs. But the star admits she didn’t eat it au naturale, instead combining it with other healthy ingredients to make it more palatable.
“I made smoothies out of it for three weeks,” she continued. “I had a home birth, so my midwife and my doula took it and cut it up into 20 pieces and froze it, and every day, I put it in a blender with strawberries and blueberries and guava juice and a banana, and I drank that s**t up.”
But after being super healthy in the immediate aftermath of giving birth to Rosemary, Gaby was glad to have the chance to get dressed up and come out into New York City to enjoy the premiere.
“I’ve been home with my baby. It’s my first night out,” she said. “Coming out to a party at the Museum of Natural History where you get to watch Girls and have a drink with your friends? What better night out [is there]?”
The brunette beauty wore a black jumpsuit to on the red carpet which she teamed with turquoise heels and slick of rose pink lipstick.
