Gaga lands Shiseido campaign
Lady Gaga will appear in 50 images for Shiseido.
The 28-year-old singer will front a New Year campaign for the beauty giant, with the shots debuting in Japan on January 1. Gaga isn’t just showing off her modelling skills with the collaboration, she’s also stepped behind the camera and has lensed the images.
According to WWD the flamboyant singer took 50 selfies for her new role and each one of them will be used.
The plan is for each image to feature in a separate newspaper, with the campaign going live at the beginning of January because traditionally that is one of the busiest shopping times annually.
Kicking things off on Thursday will be 46 of the shots, with the last four debuting the following Monday.
The cosmetics and haircare company isn’t discriminating over the publications which will run the images, with both large and local newspapers getting in on the action. However, at the moment the shots will only be available in Japan as there aren’t plans to make the campaign a global affair.
Gaga is famed for her love of fashion and outlandish style choices, although she’s toned them down a little over the last year. She’s also spoken about why she loves make-up so much in the past, explaining she sees it as a way to express herself as a feminist.
“Wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it. Some women feel oppressed by make-up and clothing, and here’s to them, they have every right to feel that way as well,” she previously told Stylist magazine.
