Gemma Arterton looks chic in black

Gemma Arterton looked chic in a little black dress at the British Independent Film Awards over the weekend.

The British beauty kept her look simple at the ceremony on Sunday. The event celebrates the greatest achievements in the small film market and as a result the focus is more on talent than glamour.

Gemma led the fashion pack in a knee-length black strapless dress, with skirt detailing.

The British beauty had her hair pulled back in to an elegant top knot and wore a slick of red lipstick. She accessorised with black strappy sandals and a black studded clutch.

Rebecca Hall also arrived in black, but she kept it androgynous in a sleek suit. Underneath her tailored jacket she wore a top with a sweetheart neckline and red sequinned detail.

Actress Jamie Winstone and Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt also kept with the serious tone and wore floor length black and navy gowns.

Vanessa Redgrave arrived at the event with Ralph Fiennes. Vanessa also wore a black trouser suit, but she added a touch of glamour with gold accessories and a gold clutch bag.

Ralph looked every inch the English gentleman in a sharp suit with spotted tie and handkerchief.

Kenneth Branagh was honoured with a special award before he jetted back off to Sweden to film Wallander. He looked smart in a three-piece navy suit.

Bradley Cooper and Michael Fassbender also both looked their best in effortlessly fitted suits, although they both decided to go open-collar for the evening.
