Geri Halliwell creates Union Jack range

Geri Halliwell has designed a clothing range inspired by her iconic Union Jack dress.

The singer-turned-designer wore the famous show-stopping mini dress for a Spice Girls performance at the 1997 BRIT Awards. She has now created a line based on the patriotic piece.

Geri has collaborated with high street retailer Next - for whom she already designs swimwear, dresses and lingerie.

Geri's summer 2012 collection includes the Union Jack motif throughout, with the range featuring a dress based on the one worn by the former Spice Girls member.

The star launched the new eye-popping range in central London today. Flanked by models either side, Geri donned a cowl neck replica of her dress teamed with patent blue heels.

The frock retails at £199.

Other pieces in the line include a maxi dress, a tankini, a bikini and an off-the-shoulder top.

The collection will be available in stores or online from next month.

The original Union Jack dress Geri wore almost 15 years ago was originally a plain black Gucci dress. After complaining it was too boring, the star got her sister to sew a Union Jack tea towel on the front.

The dress sold at auction for £41,320 the following year.
