Gigi Hadid has spoken out about fighting back against a stranger who grabbed her and lifted her up while she was walking to her car.

The 21-year-old was leaving the Max Mara fashion show at Milan Fashion Week with her sister Bella on Wednesday when a stranger grabbed her from behind and lifted her up.

Video footage shows the man lingering while Gigi poses for photos with fans, and it appears that her bodyguard had stopped to do the same thing when the man came in contact with her.

Immediately the supermodel attempted to defend herself, using her fists and elbows to fight off the man as Bella (19) shouted, “Let go of her!”

When her security guard intervened and she was released, Gigi tried to chase after the man, shouting, “Who the f*** are you, you piece of s**t.”

The Vogue coverstar and her sister were led straight to their car, while Gigi was left looking visibly shaken and told security to “go after him.”

Following the incident, Gigi, who is in a relationship with former One Direction star Zayn Malik, took to Twitter to express her anger.

She reposted a tweet which suggested an alternative headline for a publication that titled their piece about the event: “Not model behaviour. Gigi Hadid aggressively lashes out and elbows fan in the face after he tries to pick her up.”

“Alternative headline,” reads the tweet written by a fan. “Good for her: Gigi Hadid reacts in totally appropriate way when random man tries to lift her in the street.”

“Thank you Rachel,” wrote Gigi.

“To unknown article: fan?! The actual fans that were there can tell you what happened. I’m a human being and had every right to defend myself. How dare that idiot think he has the right to man-handle a complete stranger. He ran quick though,” she finished.

Gigi has spent the past several weeks travelling to London, Milan and New York for Fashion Week as one of the most coveted models of the season.
