Greta Lee: I work at looking relaxed
Greta Lee thinks it's odd how much effort people put into looking "relaxed".
The actress' star is on the rise since appearing on Lena Dunham's Girls as hipster Soojin. Greta takes a lot of interest in fashion and admits that a lot of work goes into pulling off her ensembles.
"I tried really hard to look effortless," she laughed to elle.com, while pointing at her outfit of choice. "It's insane the amount of effort we put into looking normal and relaxed, brandless, and timeless, isn't it?"
At the premiere of Girls' third season in New York earlier this year, Greta looked chic in a cropped white sweater and black leather maxi skirt. When it comes to her look, the star likes to mix things up.
"My style is pretty eclectic," she mused. "As I've gotten older, I've wanted to embrace more of my femininity, but it's hard for me. I was really excited to see people wearing athletic, tomboy stuff. That has always sort of been up my alley…"
She might be bagging big-screen roles now, such as a part in The Cobber, which also stars Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman, but things haven't always been so easy for Greta. However, she'd never let a lack of money get in the way of good accessories.
"My mom is an old-school Korean lady who is all about the handbag," she grinned.
"I've been in many situations where I've had to ask, 'OK. Do I need to sell one of these bags on eBay?'
"It's a funny thing to realise, 'Oh, I need to buy groceries and toilet paper. And I'm waiting tables. But I've got some really sick bags.'"
